語境錯置I：噤聲 Contextual Displacement I: Silencing

語言是歷史權力的介質，亦是記憶裂縫的載體。作品選取台灣50-60年代的官方政治言論，透過 AI 直譯日語、台語、國語，使語意在機械翻譯的過程中產生偏移錯置，呈現語言在不同語境下的重構與再造。

影像交錯歷史檔案、語言政策與機械錯譯，透過多頻道呈現台灣人在不同政權下經歷的語言壓迫——從皇民化運動的同化、戰後的語言統治，到戒嚴時期的禁制與消音。聲音被刻意抽離，使語言的缺席與異化成為歷史的殘響，在語境的斷裂與偏移之中，反映語言如何承載、重塑，或在歷史洪流之中被噤聲。

Language as a Medium of Historical Power and a Vessel of Memory's Fractures

This work selects official political discourse from Taiwan in the 1950s and 1960s, using AI to translate directly between Japanese, Taiwanese Hokkien, and Mandarin. Through the mechanical process of translation, semantic shifts and dislocations emerge, revealing the ways language is reconstructed and recontextualized across different linguistic landscapes.

The video interweaves historical archives, language policies, and machine mistranslations, presented through a multi-channel format to expose the linguistic oppression experienced by Taiwanese people under different regimes—from the assimilation of the Japanization movement, to the linguistic governance after World War II, and the suppression and silencing during the Martial Law period. The deliberate removal of sound underscores the absence and alienation of language as an echo of history, reflecting how language carries, reshapes, or is silenced by the tides of history through ruptures and distortions in its context.
